Joan Sherley QSM

Joan Sherley was a good friend of the Eatwell family in Paraparaumu and Raumati South. She died in 2010.

When all the family had all but left the area, and a resident living adjacent to Bert's Way tried to usurp the land for their own private use, Joan tookup arms and waged a battle to save it as it was, and won.

Bert's Way was named after Bert Eatwell after he donated the land for a public accessway to the beach.

Here is how the Paraparaumu / Raumati Community Board have honoured Joan Sherley.

Joan's late husband was the popular Jazz presenter on National Radio for many years.
